People always say that raising a child takes a village - for us, growing a child does to!
I am SO excited to share that our family is embarking on surrogacy journey number two. I am even MORE excited to share that this adventure will include the MVP of our first journey, our surrogate Ashley.
Ashley and I started 2022 as total strangers. She saw one of our viral Instagram Reels and felt compelled to reach out, launching both of our families onto a path neither could have imagined. By November of that year, Ashley was pregnant with our daughter. In July, all of our lives were transformed as we collectively welcomed baby Scottie into the world.
Since then, we've stayed close. Our families get together regularly, and our group chat is always buzzing with funny memes and videos, family updates, and general chit-chat. Going through a surrogacy journey together sealed our bond, and so when Ashley mentioned that she would be honoured to carry for us again, the answer was an immediate yes.
So here we are, back in a familiar place: the very beginning.
Right now, we're waiting on our fertility clinic to provide Ashley's medical clearance. After that, we'll move on to legal contracts. We're feeling every bit as excited as we did the first time around, but also nervous. No two journeys are alike, and while we feel incredibly secure in our match, we know that the outcome of embryo transfers and pregnancies are ultimately out of all of our control.
Just like the first time, we'll be sharing our journey in an effort to peel back the curtains on surrogacy for whoever is curious. Here's to a bright journey ahead!
